Tyvek is a synthetic nonwoven material composed of fine high-density polyethylene fibers that are flash spun and bonded together by heat and pressure. This unique process does not require binders or additives, so Tyvek® can be recycled after its use.
Given its strength and waterproof property, Tyvek finds application in a variety of operations ranging from construction, product and medical packaging, PPE, graphics, tags and labels, advertising banners, and more. Other applications in different areas of the world include using Tyvek to make currency notes and driver’s licenses.
The Tyvek material is receptive to markings made using pen, pencil, and marker. While most inks and markers work on Tyvek, some may run or feather. It may be a good idea to stick to permanent markers and ballpoint pens for the best outcome.
Tyvek tags are relatively strong, waterproof, puncture-proof, mildew resistant, and not affected by most chemicals. These are approved for use with food and are often found in cleanrooms since the material contains some lint. Tyvek is easy to sterilize and remains sterile for many years once made into packaging. Additionally, Tyvek tags are both writable and printable, making them easy to use and versatile enough to match different requirements.
Made using 100% high-density polyethylene fibers that are compressed to form a remarkably tough printing substrate, Tyvek promises superior durability & tear resistance. Tyvek tags can withstand elements such as water, weather, and rough handling and can be glued, laminated, fixed, sewn, and stapled. Bringing together the qualities of paper, film, and fabric, Tyvek tags are perfect for a wide range of applications and are extensively used in construction, bringing together the qualities of paper, film, and fabric.
Tyvek tags are tear-resistant. These might get damaged but do not fall apart. Even though these can easily be cut with scissors or a knife, the tags can resist repeated folding and flexing without tearing. Tyvek tags are also absolutely waterproof and retain their strength when wet.
Tyvek tags are both writable and printable, although printing on these tags may not be as easy as with tags made of other materials. This is due to the waterproof nature of these tags, which makes it a little challenging to work with water-based inks and increases the drying time. Laser printing has its own challenge of intense heat when working with Tyvek. Thermal transfer is a better option that promises a significantly reduced drying time and does not expose the tags to high-intensity heat.
Custom Tyvek tags couple the advantages of the Tyvek material with the creative liberty that customization brings to the table. Custom Tyvek tags allow you to choose the tag size, color, and orientation and add the text you want on the tag. You may even add your company logo, name, and contact information, and decide if you want the tags to be single or double-sided. Customization also allows you to achieve differentiation by uploading your design and creating tags that are uniquely yours.
